Entertainment in the capital is limited, although many hotels put some sort of evening music, dance or puppet show.
Raj Mandir Cinema (Tel No. 379372), just off MI Rd, is the place to go if you're planning to take in at least one Hindi film while you're in India. This opulent cinema is a Jaipur tourist attraction in its immense size. Bookings can be made one day in advance between 4 and 5 pm) and this is your best chance of securing a seat. Tickets range from Rs 15 to Rs 46; avoid the cheaper tickets, which are very close to the screen.
Bowling alleys seem to be the latest rage with Jaipurians. The best alley is at
Dreamland
(Tel No. 546608), somewhat incontinently located in Malviya Nagar at Gaurav Towaer, Bardiya Shopping Centre. This Complex also has video games, the New Yorker veg fast-food eatery, and the space Station disco. The bowling alley at Kin Pin
(Tel No. 623029), on the 3rd floor of Centre Point in Raja Park, is not as good - there's a Wimpy hamburger joint downstairs.
Ranbag Golf Club (Tel No. 384482), near the Rambagh Palace, charges Rs 100/600 for Indians/foreigners per day, plus Rs 100 for equipment and Rs 50 for a caddie. For tennis, there's the
Jai Club
(Tel No. 362052), off MI Rd, which charges Rs 200 per couple per hour (advance booking essential).
