Location

The hotel lies on a 25-hectare private estate as Balaclava along Turtle Bay (between Port Louis and Grand Baie) on the northwest coast, which is the sunniest region of Mauritius.

The distance to the airport is 60 km (45 min.), and to Port Louis 12 km *15 min.) and Grand Baie 12 km (15 min.). New trunk roads provide easy access to the hotel.

Geography

Mauritius is an island of 1865 sq. kms  with 330 km of coastline and beaches. With La Reunion, the islands of Mauritius and Rodrigues constitute the archipelago of the Mascarene. 

Mauritius is situated slightly above the Tropic of Capricorn, south-east of Madagascar.

 Language

The official language is English, Creole, a variant of French, is however the most currently spoken language. French is spoken everywhere.

 Climate

On the coast, the dry and windy tropical weather makes a pleasant climate throughout the year. Mild in winter (June, July, August) with an average temperature of 20/25o.

It is slightly warmer in summer (November, December, January) with an average of 30/35o. The temperature goes down markedly, however, in the hilly hinterland. Only in winter, one needs to bring along something warm for a few cool evenings,

 Time zone difference

4 hrs ahead of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT), 3 during summer time.
